Near and far at once

Every tile is a website listed on Pixeloom. The tiles inside the star are only a little darker than the ones outside it, less than the difference between two neighbouring tiles, so up close the star is lost among the letters and colours.

Making the picture smaller does what walking away from it does. The letters shrink past the point where they can be read, neighbouring tiles blur together, and the small difference in brightness that runs across the whole picture is all that is left.

Play it again and, on the first picture, lean back from your screen or narrow your eyes: see how soon the star arrives.
