Keep your eyes on the small cross for twenty seconds. Don't look away until the picture changes.

Why it happens
The cells in your eye that respond to a colour tire when they look at it for a long time.
When the colour goes away, the tired cells answer more weakly than their neighbours, and you see the opposite colour for a few seconds: orange leaves blue behind, magenta leaves green.
